Plink

IOS, Android – Lead UX/UI
2021

The Project:

“Plink” is a socially connected gaming app designed for mobile platforms. The app’s core concept revolves around enabling players from across the globe to share content and engage in challenges when participating in multiplayer games. My involvement in the project occurred during the latter stages of development, where I was brought on board to provide UX/UI creative support aimed at enhancing the final version of the app.

The Process:

  • Collaboration with the Leadership Team: My role began by collaborating closely with the project’s leadership team. Together, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of the app’s existing state, identifying potential areas of improvement. This process involved evaluating the user experience, interface design, and overall functionality.

  • Proposing Solutions through Hi-Def Mockups: To address the identified issues and areas for improvement, I leveraged my design skills to produce high-definition mockups using Photoshop. These mockups served as visual representations of proposed solutions, offering a tangible view of the desired changes.

  • Supporting the Art and Development Teams: As part of the project, I worked in tandem with both the art and development teams to implement the proposed UX/UI improvements. This collaborative effort ensured that the suggested enhancements were seamlessly integrated into the app’s final version.

Final Thoughts:

  • Excitement for a Global Userbase: “Plink” was an exciting project to be a part of due to its potential to connect a vast userbase of gamers from around the world. The app’s focus on social interaction and gaming presented an opportunity to engage players on a global scale.
  • Desire for Early Involvement: While the project was enjoyable and presented significant potential, there was a desire to have joined the project at an earlier stage. Addressing fundamental UX issues during the architectural and ideation phases could have led to a more streamlined and user-friendly app from the outset.

In summary, “Plink” was a project that promised to bring gamers together on a global scale, offering them a unique social gaming experience. My involvement in the project, while late in the development cycle, contributed to efforts aimed at improving the app’s user experience and interface. Looking back, the desire for early involvement underscores the importance of addressing core UX concerns from the project’s inception.
