The Project:

“PokerStars” is a casino gaming application available on both mobile and web platforms. My involvement in this project occurred during the later stages of development, where my primary role was to assist in refining the user experience (UX) for the new release of the app.

The Process:

  • Collaboration with the Leadership Team: My journey in this project began with close collaboration with the project’s leadership team. Together, we identified areas of improvement, particularly focusing on enhancing the store and checkout experience within the application.

  • Wireframing and Design: To address the identified UX concerns and refine the user journey, I provided wireframes that illustrated potential design solutions. These wireframes evolved into final design versions that aligned with the agreed-upon design enhancements.

  • Support for the Art and Development Teams: As part of the project, I worked closely with both the art and development teams. My role encompassed supporting the implementation of UX/UI improvements to ensure a seamless integration into the final version of the app.

Final Thoughts:

  • Unique Experience in Gambling Apps: My involvement in “PokerStars” marked my first experience in designing for a gambling application. I observed that this genre of apps can sometimes lag behind in adopting modern UX techniques when compared to more traditional mobile gaming apps.
  • Contributing to Modern UX Practices: One of the positive takeaways from this project was the opportunity to help the PokerStars design team gain insights into modern UX practices. Introducing contemporary design principles and methodologies could potentially enhance the overall user experience for players of the application.

In summary, my role in the “PokerStars” project focused on refining the UX for a casino gaming application. While this experience introduced me to the unique challenges of the gambling app industry, it also presented a chance to contribute to the evolution of UX practices within this specific niche.
